Am I the onliest one can't see the pichers in this thread? I can see the older ones, but not the more recent ones. Just little red Xs. Can't make'em open, no matter what.

Everybody look same-same. Big people look like little white box with a red X. Kids look like a little white box with a little red X. Whole families look like little white box with little red X. How I'm gonna tell anybody from everybody? :(

John Bridge

Kelly, I think you got that computer disease called "lakamemory" or the other one called "lakabandwidth." You are not alone. Some folks are just willing to wait longer than others.

I have been planning to capture all the photos off this thread and place them in my album. It's on the list. ;)

Must be a miracle. How can it be lack of memory when I got fiftysomethin' of them Giggabites I ain't never used, waitin' right there on a brand new hard drive? Bandwidth, well I don't know how much of that I got, nor how to git some more if I need it. But now I see the pichers! :)

Todd, seems you and I could have a great time fishin' 'sept I don't like that white snow lookin' stuff. Maybe we could meet in the Gulf?

Rob, well, it's all been said. A beauty queen holding a pro-ball player in her arms, jeez, how can you live with that? :D

tileguytodd

11-10-2002, 09:03 AM

Red Lake Crappies Yes Scott :) Nothing like 15 crappies weighing in at near 24#s

And dem are Black crappies.Last i heard Red lake had a school of them 5 miles long and 1/2 a mile wide.(thats alot of crappies :D.

So how about overnighting me some crappie fillets there Todd ole buddy ole pal ole friend?

Bud Cline

11-10-2002, 11:42 AM

Rob Z,

I'm just this morning coming to realize something that has occurred recently in my life and I thought about you and little Robby.

I have a coffee mug in my garage/shop that I keep pencils in. The other day at WallMart pencils were on sale in an isle bin. I bought two packages (two dozen). I opened the packages, sharpened about six of them and placed them all in this coffee mug.

Tanner watched me sharpening these six pencils and using my electric pencil sharpener to do so.

It's been about four days now since I did this.

This morning I noticed there is not one pencil in that pencil mug. Not one.

For two days now I have been finding pencils here and there out in the yard that measure not more than two inches in total length, and this includes the eraser.

I thought at first I was finding the same pencil over and over again and thought nothing of it until this morning when I discovered the mug was empty.

So yes they are cute little guys.....for a while. :)

Just wait, I have always heard boys were a lot different than girls and now I am here to testify. :D

tileguytodd

11-10-2002, 12:12 PM

You Drive up and I will personally cook them for you Bud.But ya better wait for a bit till i catch some more. They dont last long around here.I have an 89 year old neighbor i supply with fillets and Inlaws also. You say the word though and a hold enough out to make the trip worth your while :D

John Bridge

11-10-2002, 06:40 PM

Sonnie, you Cajun Coonass, those are fresh water fishes. Those Reds come outa the Gulf, don't they? I bought some Reds over at the market not too long ago. No mention they were imported from Minnesota. :D

Where's Rob? Sent him an email. Must have bounced off him. :D

Sonnie Layne

11-11-2002, 12:47 AM

We actually got soccolait and black bass that occur in brackish water down der. Damn fine stringer of fish, I still don't like all that white stuff, tho.

And isn't it great we can get farm-raised reds on the market nowdays?

Rob Z

11-11-2002, 06:33 AM

Thanks, everybody. :)

RJ, no I didn't get your email. I have since turned off the filters on my email program. :( I ended up getting a Hitachi. The Senco is in the landfill.

Todd, no , that isn't my chair. Christina doesn't let me sit in any of the nice furniture. In fact, she rarely lets me into the house (other than the garage). Things stay nicer that way.

Jim, I think Robby is about 18 lbs now. 90% for height, 50% for weight, 99% for cuteness. :D

Bud, Robby is almost 7 months old. He has already started to get into everything he can get to. I can't wait until he can walk.

It's amazing how having a couple of kids will make you clean up your act.

John Bridge

11-11-2002, 06:56 AM

Haul him out to the garage and let him play with the big boy stuff. ;)

Sonnie,

Seems like every fish I buy nowadays (unless I want to take out a loan) has been farm raised. And quit getting off topic. You're supposed to keep this place tidy. :D

Bud Cline

11-11-2002, 11:08 AM

Rob,

"Hauling Robby out to the garage and letting him play with the big boy stuff" is not the thing to do. TRUST ME.:) John has undoubtedly forgotten when his boys were that age.:D

Swear to god, the kids are mine. :) Like John Hiatt said, "Lucky for you girl, you look like your Momma"

11-13-2002, 07:48 PM

Well, Tom, the leis were the first thing I noticed, but I wasn't gonna say nothin', know what I mean? :)

When I suffered my two years in Hawaii, the common refrain was that you wanted to return to the land of square Quonset huts and round-eyed native girls, where a lei is more than just a buncha flowers. :D

Hey, it was tough duty, but somebody hadta do it.

For those of you who think Vinny is a figment of our imagination be careful Vinny is for real. I assigned him to RJ to get this album completed.

Bob, I'll bet you haven't seen the Stankhammers lately, have you!

bbcamp

11-26-2002, 11:00 AM

http://images.snapfish.com/335%3B558723232%7Ffp65%3Dot%3E2326%3D%3A95%3D966%3Dxroqdf%3E2323338%3B64%3A4%3Aot1lsi

Here's a picture of the Stankhammer boys. Lefty, on the right, Homer, in the middle, and Jethro Jr., the other one.

It's tough to get them to stand still long enough to shoot them, unless you offer to buy their autographs ($2 each, or all three for $5).

Look for the boys in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. They will be performing their world famous "6-Step Shuffle" right behind the NYPD Equestrian Unit and in front of the Shriner's Magic Go-Cart Cavalcade!

flatfloor

11-26-2002, 12:44 PM

Behind the Equestrian Unit seems appropriate.

Bob, how do you know those are the Stankhammers for sure?

bbcamp

11-26-2002, 01:23 PM

'Cause I can identify them by sight. That's Lefty, on the right.

And Homer's in the middle.

And that leaves Jethro, Jr., the other one.

Wait a minute, do you think that they are imposters???

And, why would anybody impersonate the Stankhammers? (except for the money, prestege, and women, of course)

flatfloor

11-26-2002, 04:59 PM

I have to ask this.. when they are with a woman do they take those suits off or are the suits birth control devices?

Is the woman a close relative?

Are there ever more than one womans? Ones mind is boggled. I could go on in this vein but common curtesy, discretion and consideration for the faint of heart not to mention the sensibilities of the members of the fair sex,the Belles of Tile Your World, suggest I desist from this train of thought.

cx

11-26-2002, 06:01 PM

Y'all weird!

bbcamp

11-27-2002, 06:57 AM

The boys are a little sensitive about their relative inexperience with members of the fair sex. It's so hard to find 3 girls willing to triple-date!

So I have a copy of a flyer that we are useing with the real estate agents, that I wanted to share with the folks out there looking for promothin ideas.
The file is in the email where the designer sent me a copy to proof. How do I get it over here other than forwarding the email for John and let him try and figure out a way to get it up here.
:bang: :bang:

Oh while I'm at it. Is there a way to apply more than one vB Code at a time. Like if I wanted to change the size, font and color of an underlined word, how?

davem

11-29-2002, 11:37 PM

You mean like this?

Switch the vB Code button from Normal to Enhanced. Then when you click the "B" "I" , "U", etc buttons, they don't pop a dialog, but instead put the code down on the page. Click several, then type your text, then click "Close all tags". Pretty dang slick, I just figgered it out. :D

CX, did you get that? :)

Oh, and use the "Attach File" dialog at the bottom of the reply screen. You can choose any picture on your hard drive, as long as it's smaller than 30 kbytes.

cx

11-30-2002, 07:41 PM

Yep, I caught that, Dave. Knew it must be something important.

Hows come this new site won't remember who I am from one visit to the next? I miss checking a box or somethin'?

And just now the reply page that came up is more like the old one, without all the new bells and whistles.

CX ...imagine "Cheech Marin" saying

JTG

11-30-2002, 10:28 PM

yes that is what I meant. Thanks man:)
So now let me see if I can transfer the pdf file from email program to here.
No, wait, is there a button missing from yesterday? Wasn't there one for file/image transfer?

davem

11-30-2002, 10:37 PM

JTG,
Make sure to login on the "home page" before replying to a post, then the advanced reply box will show for you, if you have it turned on in your profile options. Attach file is down near the submit button, but must be a "picture" file like jpg, jpeg, gif, png. Also, it must be smaller that 30k bytes. We don't want to choke Johns server with pictures that are too big. :)

tileguytodd

12-01-2002, 01:32 PM

Ok lets try an experiment again.I got the program Dave and converted a Pic so lets se if this works!!

John Bridge

12-01-2002, 04:31 PM

Dave,

We need a drum roll button on here. :D

Todd,

Looks like pretty slick work. Why is the picture so small? :D

tileguytodd

12-01-2002, 04:54 PM

I am still trying to figure out size of picture, best resolution, that will fit iin the parameters to fit on here. I started at a 50 for resolution then went to 200 but was close to max on file size.I am up for hints and tips as to size of scan, resolution size etc for setup.Trying to give best quality at least file size is tricky work :)

John Bridge

12-01-2002, 05:40 PM

Okay, your picture is about 300 pixels wide, and the file size is about 21K. This thing supports photos up to about 35K, so that means you can post medium quality pics that are about 400 to 450 pixels wide (or tall).

And the other way to do it is the old way by loading it on my site and then posting it, but we don't want to go through that routine, do we?

:shades:

I need you to send me the photo full size so I can reduce it a little and add it to the album on the main site.

john@johnbridge.com

davem

12-01-2002, 05:52 PM

When you save a jpg, there is an "options" button that you can click on and increase the jpg compression, by lowering the quality number. I usually don't go below 70 or so, but that is another way to decrease filesize. 72 dpi is pretty standard I think? If you can talk John into it, the filesize limitation could be raised a little. ;)

cx

12-01-2002, 08:18 PM

I'm thinking that might be why my picher wouldn't post, Dave. Too big. I made it smaller in size, substantially smaller than John's bird, but it was still over 30K. After your post above, I tried saving it and reducing the "quality", but it seems to bottom out at about 32K - same at 70, same at 65, etc.

Maybe there is a minimum for any particular photo? Does the format size at which it was taken make the difference?

I just don't think it's fair for JB to be able to post a big bird picher and I can't post no picher at all!

Well, it is his site and all, but still................:p

davem

12-01-2002, 09:14 PM

CX, the size shouldn't bottom out I don't think. How many pixels widthxheight is the pic? If you want, email it to me and I'll have a go at making it fit under the bar. :)

cx

12-01-2002, 09:32 PM

It's little, Dave, 150x231 thingees only. It's a reduction from a larger original. When I save it at 100(percent?), it's 32K. When I save it at 70, it's 32K.

It's not important that it get posted, it's important that I learn how come I can't do it and how come JB's bigger photo has only about 6K thingees and my little one has 32.

It's an education issue! :bang:

You, RJ, are hereby appointed Offical Keeper of the Album. 5 weeks unpaid vacation. No more, mind you!

I'm going to add this title to your other title forthwith. Hope there's enough room for it. :D

There are some prominent holdouts: Bob Campbell (bbcamp), J.C. (jim cordes, moderator), John T., John K., . . . . hey, look around. I don't have a list. I ain't smart enough for that. :D

There are some females out there, too. I'll get to them . . . .

OK, I count approx two dozen posts with "real" pics in them - considering there's a number of multiples (John, Kelly, mine, Rob's kids, Sonnie....& Cammie, I ain't even gonna count your first one :)) seems to me we are still missing a whole lotta pics, yet....

John, mebbe you should be re-thinkin' at least one of RJ's titles....or at least someone should find out what's holdin up Vinnie....

meanwhile, to the prominent holdouts (all still outstanding, I might add), you can also add some prolific posters such as Scooter, Bri, Dog Paws, Chip, Jason (Butler), Paul D, Ron from Toronto, Hobbit (aka Howard, who must have one of the slowest mail carriers on Earth...). Tn's back - don't forget her, and Sue, the missing hostess, maybe even a real pic of da' Man...heck, you get the idea!!

I'm afraid Sonnie has succeeded in completely losing me again. What do fish have to do with a grandchild, for crying out loud. ;)

flatfloor

07-30-2003, 06:49 PM

Er.... maybe he means if you spend all your time fihing you will never have any children ergo no Grand kids? :shades:

John Bridge

07-30-2003, 07:39 PM

Well Linda seems to understand. Maybe she'll deign to clue us in.

Now, what I THINK he's sayin' is that I'd better come up with a cuter picture if I'm about to outdo Davey and that darlin' grandchild o' his.

Now, mind you, I had no intent of startin' a competition among the fine people on this board. I think Sonnie's prolly just jealous cause he cain't catch no Coho Salmon round his neck of the world. ;) You know those renaisance types...all touchy feely and such. Probably wept his eyes out when he saw my nice shiny fish.

Now, as to the issue of fishin' so much I cain't make children and hence a lack of Grandchildren...well, you know they say the best luck for a fishing boat is to christen it by.... :shades:

well...no matter...my lucks been okay just the same! ;)

Maybe one of these days I'll have to shoot off a picture of my offspring so's that Sonnie fellow doesn't think I'm sterile or some such! ;) Got three of 'em I do! Kids that is! And all good lookin'! :D

Tile Guy was in Sequim two weeks ago for the Lavender Festival.
Fields smell very nice. Good people watching and it is good for a few points on the "thanks honey for doing that with me" scale.

:D

John Bridge

Jerry, that's beautiful, well and good, but what has it to do with baby pictures? You trying to evade the issue here? And you didn't even comment on how cute I was/am. :D

TWINS???

My youngest is 16 too! LORD help us!!!!

"Got any gas money ma???" :D

L

John Bridge

08-05-2003, 03:13 PM

Twins. Saves you money, ya know. We bought them one car between them. Patti calls it a "cash car" because she paid cash for it. But it's really a cash car because it consumes cash. :) They're good boys, though. They are both working this summer. That's all you can ask for in this day and age. ;)

That's a hell of a thing when you have to change countries just to get time off from your offspring. Guess one of these days I'll head to England and balance the equation. ;)

Yeah, but you'd think a guy with a nice family like that would look a little happier in the family picher, eh? :D

John Bridge

CX,

I think that's what you would call a staid pose, respectable and all. :)

jay f

01-01-2004, 09:44 AM

No smiling for a reason. Since I can remember, the cost of having myself photographed has always been extremely expensive because the cost has been directly proportionate to the expense of lenses (camera), cameras, photographers lunches, etc., because those things have always have had to be replaced due to cracked lenses, exploding cameras, technicolor yawns, etc.

jay f

01-01-2004, 10:14 AM

My son helped me with the bath in our house, carrying tile, telling me to hurry up he wanted to take a shower, etc., the older one won't carry anything heavier than a video game controller!:)

Davy

01-01-2004, 11:20 AM

Looking back, my son always wanted to go to work with me, I always fed him well, that's why. We'd stop and get pancakes in the morning and Bar-b-q for lunch. Of course I didn't pay him, he eat up his wages everyday.:D

doitright

01-01-2004, 02:13 PM

Lookin way back my dad said "Be glad I'm not charging you for the muscle building course!"

My son helped me a lot. First he worked for no pay. Then he found out about the labor board - So I started paying him. Then it must not have been enough, so he went to work with a painting outfit. One day I asked him - Hows work? He replied - Good, except all we do is paint. I replied - That's what painters do! Kids - :bang:

Now he's a union tile setter - Wasn't required to go through apprenticeship program either. I must have taught him something right :) !, or the union's requirements are really going downhill  .

Any way this is a photo album thread - Here goes ....

Picture of me mountain biking on vacation in Florida this summer. You can't quite make me out, but I'm on the right of the bike - on my back, with a branch sticking out of my ear!
