Burris Racing Weekly Championship Points as of June 26 (Top 10) (1)

WEEDSPORT, NY (June 27, 2024) – The first round of points for the New York State Burris Racing Weekly Championship Series have been released as of June 26.

In an effort to help reconnect weekly karting facilities in New York State and beyond, Dan Kapuscinski Motorsports Promotions and Burris Racing have partnered to debut the Burris Racing Weekly Championship Series in 2024.

With the introduction of the Burris Racing Weekly Championship Series, drivers at Burris Racing facilities have the opportunity to score points throughout the season in order to see how they rank against other drivers in the state.

The new weekly series, which mimics that of the Hoosier Racing Tire Weekly Championship facilitated by DIRTcar, does not require any weekly or member fees to be associated with the series. Drivers must simply support local Burris tire tracks in the state.

Points are awarded based on a driver’s best 12 finishes at any participating Burris facility. Points are awarded based on the number of karts starting a feature race, with up to 16 karts being counted. The race winner will be awarded 2 points per kart, with a maximum of 32 points going to a winner.

Participating tracks include Allegany Memorial Speedway, Brockville Ontario Speedway Karting, Can-Am Speedway, Lebanon Valley Speedway, Moose Mountain Racing Club, Ransomville Speedway, Turkey Trot Raceway and Weedsport Kartway.

State series points are only awarded to divisions competing as a points class at each facility. Points are not earned for PRO events.

At the end of the 2024 season, eight drivers will be crowned as a Burris Racing Weekly Series Champion. Each champion will receive a set of Burris Racing tires, a Burris Racing State Champion jacket and a custom trophy. The runner-up in each division will also receive a set of Burris Racing tires, with the driver finishing in third earning a set of right side Burris Racing tires; all at no cost to competitors.

In total, Burris Racing and DKMP will provide more than $6,500 in contingencies and awards to drivers for supporting their local racing facilities in 2024.

A total of 23 drivers have already scored points in the Jr. Red Clone division, with Harloe Russell leading the way by 16-points over Nolan Schroy. Both Russell and Schroy compete mainly at Can-Am Speedway, Moose Mountain Racing Club and Weedsport Kartway.

Trailing the top two early in the season are Russell Trickey, Eli Reid and Julian Gamble.

The largest junior class in the state has proven to be Jr. Green Clone and it is a tight battle at the top between Luke Holmes, Mason Sharts, Liam Pakenham and Vincent Ruggiero. The top four drivers are separated by only 18-points through June 26.
Holmes, Sharts and Ruggiero come from western New York, with Holmes and Sharts racing weekly at Ransomville and Ruggiero calling AMS home. Pakenham hails from north of the border, running both Brockville Onatrio and Can-Am Speedway. All four meet in the middle at Weedsport Kartway each month.

Ryan Barry completes the current top five in a class of more than 50 Jr. Green Clone racers statewide.

More than 35 Jr. Purple Clone racers have been in action this season with Levi Herriven and Laina Stewart having distanced themselves from the field. Herriven and Stewart each compete at Ransomville and Weedsport, with Herriven having scored wins at each facility, which has helped him to a 16-point lead on Stewart.

Further behind in the top five spots are Jax Cotriss, Cole Schumacher and Jayme Just.

More than 50 Jr. Blue Clone racers have competed across the state this year with Ransomville Speedway’s Tyler Moden leading the way in a very tight battle across the top six spots. Moden, Jenson Cook, Thomas Ruggiero, Aideen Rusnock, Rocco Batt and Cam Vanzandt are just 8-points apart heading into the summer.

The Jr. Unrestricted division is currently led by AMS racers Aiden Stewart, Deven Matteson and Karson Harvey. With eight events already run this season at AMS, the top three racers have a bit of a head start on the remainder of the field. Stewart leads Matteson and Harvey by more than 30-points.

Filling the top five as of June are Troy Hutton and Dodge Smith.

Clone Light has a field of more than 80 racers as of June 26 with AMS runner Thomas Ruggiero out front. Ruggiero, who still runs in the junior divisions at most facilities, has moved to the adult ranks at AMS and has enjoyed great success. Ruggiero leads Ransomville regular Ben Walsh and traveler Clayton Cain by a mere 4-points at this early part of the season.

Completing the top five in Light are Seth Whitney and Sheldon Carlson.

The largest field in New York State is Clone Heavy and the leader of those 92 entrants is eastern New York runner, Mike Farina. With multiple wins across Lebanon Valley, Turkey Trot and Weedsport; Farina is the only driver in the adult ranks this season that has already met his 12-race quota. Now, Farina works to simply win more races against quality fields in order to up his current point total of 206-points.

Trailing Farina by more than 60-points are fellow Lebanon Valley racers Ryan Edwards and Shaine Dowd-Smith, with Ransomville’s Mike Seefeldt and Ben Walsh in the front five.

AMS drivers currently have a stranglehold on Clone Super Heavy with Mike Halbert, Ron Bliven, Brock Waite and Josh Kennell leading the way. Central New York racer William Young fills the top five.

In total, the Burris Racing Weekly Championship Series has seen 414 entrants across eight divisions, and eight race tracks, in 2024.
